What Is INDIBA Therapy? A Guide for Patients in Swords, Dublin

Home » What Is INDIBA Therapy? A Guide for Patients in Swords, Dublin

If you’ve been searching for advanced, non-invasive treatment options in Swords or across Dublin, you may have come across INDIBA® therapy. It’s a technology we use regularly at Axios Physio, and patients often ask the same question before their first session: what exactly is INDIBA, and how does it work?

What is INDIBA?

INDIBA® is a medical-grade radiofrequency device that uses a stable, monopolar current at 448 kHz to stimulate the body’s natural healing process from within. Unlike treatments that only work on the surface, INDIBA works at a cellular level, increasing local blood flow, accelerating tissue repair, and reducing inflammation and pain.

It’s a technology originally developed for elite sports medicine and is now widely used in physiotherapy clinics across Europe, including here at our clinic in Swords.

How does INDIBA therapy work?

During a session, your physiotherapist applies a handheld electrode directly to your skin. The device delivers a gentle, controlled radiofrequency current that generates heat deep within the tissue — without damaging the skin’s surface. This process:

  • Stimulates fibroblast production, which supports tissue and collagen repair
  • Improves local circulation, helping to reduce swelling and inflammation
  • Relaxes muscle tension and eases pain
  • Supports the body’s own recovery process, rather than masking symptoms

Most patients find the treatment relaxing, describing a gentle, comfortable warmth rather than any discomfort.

What can INDIBA help with?

At our clinic, we use INDIBA as part of a wider treatment plan for a range of conditions, including muscle and joint pain, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, and postpartum recovery. You can see real before-and-after results from our postpartum recovery patients on our INDIBA® treatment page.

It’s often combined with hands-on physiotherapy techniques for a more complete, personalised treatment plan — you can read more about the full range of treatments we offer on our Services page.

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first appointment will start with a full assessment so we can understand your goals and whether INDIBA is the right fit for your recovery. Sessions are quick, comfortable and require no downtime — you can go straight back to your day afterwards. Most treatment plans involve a course of sessions for the best results, and we’ll talk you through pricing and packages during your consultation. You can also check our Fees and Plans page in advance.
